2022 Book of the Month Update
I love my Book of the Month membership! I joined in January of 2021. I really wanted to read The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins. It was a retelling of Jane Eyre, one of my favorite books!
BOOK OF THE MONTH
Book of the Month is a subscription book club service for members. You pay a monthly fee to choose one book from their selections and can pick up to two add-ons. Click here to try it out for $5! I highly recommend this subscription service. It is great for book lovers and bookworms as it introduces you to debut authors and best-selling authors every month.
JANUARY 2022: RECKLESS GIRLS
I immediately picked Reckless Girls for January of 2022 since I loved The Wife Upstairs! It’s a locked room-type mystery set on a deserted island in the Pacific Ocean. I recommend reading both The Wife Upstairs and Reckless Girls if you love suspense and thrilling books.
FEBRUARY 2022: THE GOLDEN COUPLE
In February of 2022, I chose The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I’ve read two of their three other co-authored books. I love their books since they have a component of psychology in them. In this book, a married couple is seeing a therapist who supposedly and seemingly have the perfect marriage, though an affair and indiscretion begin to pull them apart. I’ve also read some of Sarah Pekkanen’s fiction novels. Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen are auto-buy authors for me!
MARCH 2022: THE CARTOGRAPHERS
I chose The Cartographers for March 2022. The Cartographers has been one of my favorite books this year! It’s a mixture of fantasy and magical realism that is set in the New York Public Library. I highly recommend this one if you have not read it!
RATINGS
This is 4 stars. I enjoyed it!
Read if you like locked room thrillers.
This is 4 stars. I enjoyed it!
Read if you like domestic thrillers.
This is 5 stars and a definite recommend!
Highly recommend it and would absolutely read it again!
While I enjoyed Reckless Girls and The Golden Couple, I loved The Cartographers. The great thing about a Book of the Month subscription is that you can pick authors you have already read previously and know you love, like Rachel Hawkins, but also have the opportunity to expand your reading habits by choosing new authors and genres. Fantasy and magical realism are somewhat new genres to me. I do not actively seek them out, but I do very much enjoy them! Peng Shepherd was new to me and now I know to pick up her next book!
CURRENTLY READING
I’m currently reading The Many Daughters of Afong Moy, the Read with Jenna pick for August.
UP NEXT
Now that Fall and September are approaching, I’m going to recommend some books I’ve enjoyed that have taken place in an academic setting.
