September Reading Wrap-up

SEPTEMBER WRAP-UP

I read 9 books in September. I read quite a few thrillers and suspenseful reads, which I tend to read more in the fall.

I specifically enjoyed Love in the Time of Serial Killers and Thank You for Listening as audiobooks. I recommend both and specifically think Thank You for Listening should be listened to as an audiobook since it is written by an audiobook narrator! She narrated The People We Keep which is also excellent among others. These books were rom-com books that were light and enjoyable!

I enjoyed finishing Mika in Real Life too. It was the GMA book club pick for this past August.

I read Killers of a Certain Age, which I got in my BOTM box. It’s about four older women who are assassins, but are running for their lives as they are set up by the very organization they have worked for their entire careers.

I read The Measure, a Read With Jenna pick for this past July. This was an interesting read and not one I would have necessarily picked up. Everyone receives a string that marks the amount of time left in their life which leads to conflict and discord between everyone as they grapple with the terms of their imminent or far-off death.

I read two sequels, The Retreat by Sarah Pearse and The Family Remains by Lisa Jewell. The Retreat is the second book after The Sanatorium. Sarah Pearse writes atmospheric novels that have intriguing settings! The Family Remains is the sequel to The Family Upstairs, which I read last month in anticipation of the sequel coming out.

I also discovered Sarah Vaughan through reading Reputation and then picked up Anatomy of a Scandal. I’m curious to watch the Netflix adaptation but I think it could be a bit dark!
