Review
I loved this series so much I hope to read it again! Jenny Han makes young adult books enjoyable, witty and funny! The characters were relatable and fun. It explores the dynamic of three teenage daughters being raised by a single dad after their mom died in a freak accident. Lara Jean (played by Lana Candor) is the main character who writes letters to all the boys she’s had crushes on her whole life.
The premise of the first book centers on Lara Jean’s letters to all her crushes. The book and movie diverge on how her letters get sent to the recipients, but nonetheless, her letters are sent to each crush. This is an ultimately mortifying moment for her, but leads to her finding love and belongingness in her world. The first book shows how she reconnects with her crushes and ultimately the series centers on her relationship with Peter (played by Noah Centineo), who originally was dating her oldest sister.
“My letters are for when I don’t want to be in love anymore. They’re for good-bye. Because after I write in my letter, I’m no longer consumed by my all-consuming love. My letters set me free. Or at least they’re supposed to.”
— Jenny Han (To All The Boys I've Loved Before)
I read each book in one evening while my husband was out of town. I need to reread them since I enjoyed them so much, but I loved how short and sweet they were. I’ve since read The Summer I Turned Pretty, and it was great too, but the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before will still be my favorite.
Rating
These books are all 5 stars! I definitely recommend them in addition to the Netflix movie adaptations!
Highly recommend picking up this series and would absolutely read it again.
Netflix Movies
Make sure to watch the movies! The cast is fantastic. Lana Candor plays Lara Jean so perfectly. I loved John Corbett as the dad too! All three movies are available on Netflix, great for binging on a weekend!

My next review was a long-awaited read for me, Dear Edward. I read it last fall and it was so character driven I wanted to read more books just like that. I’ll be sharing some fun bookstores from England, with some UK covers too!
